4th grade students practiced drawing three-deimensional forms and then used this knowledge to draw a robot. They used silver, grey, white, and black paint to add shadows and highlights to the forms of their robots. As a final touch, we used pages from old encyclopedias for backgrounds.
The encyclopedia pages were great found objects and this made me wonder what the students could do with other found objects. I gave each student three or four found objects and some wire and some pipe cleaners and told them to invent a robot using those materials. The results were entertaining!
